What is the academy: The Emergency Preparedness Academy will provide information regarding emergency preparedness planning, preparedness, response and recovery. The Academy will consist of three general sessions and three breakout sessions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit with exhibitors who will provide information and resources to assist with emergency preparedness planning, preparedness, response and recovery.  
 
All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance with the event date and times, which may be used to document attendance when completing professional recertification continuing education requirements in a number of other fields, such as disaster recovery. To find out if the event will satisfy a portion of your industry's continuing education requirements please contact the licensing organization directly.
 
Who should attend: The Academy offers an affordable day of training tailored to meet the interests of emergency and continuity managers from large and small businesses, government agencies, universities, health care and faith-based organizations, as well as concerned individuals.
 
Who is speaking: Workshop presenters are recognized emergency and disaster preparedness experts and are leaders in their fields. They have real-world disaster response and operations experience. These are the people who are, to a large degree, involved with and responsible for the welfare and safety of those at their business, faith-based organizations, or community.
 
Where and when is it held: The academy will be on Tuesday, March 27 at Edward Jones (Highway 270 & Dorsett Location). Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. Sessions will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and end by 4:30 p.m. There is also a pre-academy session happening Monday, March 26 at the Red Cross Chapter office in Creve Coeur (see below for details).
 
How much is it and how do I register: Registration fees will begin at $100 depending on if you are a government agency, business, or non-profit or faith-based organization. Visit the registration page to begin. Hurry! Early bird pricing is only in effect until February 15, 2012.
 
What is the pre-academy session: The Red Cross is also hosting an a pre-academy session on Monday, March 26, 2012, where you can learn and practice emergency preparedness skills. From 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., you'll participate in a Triage and Mass Casualty Simulation, and from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., you'll learn more about Basic Search and Rescue. There's only 25 spots available for the Pre-Academy Session, so register today. Note: If you attend both the Pre-Academy and Academy sessions, you will receive a discounted rate.
